Surveys for fun....???? - April 14, 2005
Thanks Benny, Thanks Chris

Here's a little more info - April 7, 2005
Insight Express and Opinion Cetral are one in the same. I was unable to find information as to whether they offer incentives or not, but it seems, to me at least, that the norm is that they do not compensate (most of the surveys are very short) and that they may occassionally have a drawing or some other form of compensation. They do however seem to be a legit market research site and would not be concerned with privacy or spam issues. Survey Direct is another story. Benny called it. I won't go too much more into it, but here's the link for their "privacy policy" http://www.surveydirect.com/privacy_sd.htm

- April 7, 2005
I don't think Survey Direct is a real survey company. They just put you on a mailing list and send a few surveys from other companies and a bunch of marketing junk masquerading as surveys.

Hi from Orlando Florida - April 4, 2005
Hi everyone, I have been doing online surveys for about 5 years now. I find in the last couple of years or so they don't pay as much as they used to. Still it is a little bit of extra income and I enjoy giving my opinion about different products. This is a great site.

I won a game ! - March 27, 2005
I won a game for taking a survey about games. I checked at pricegrabber.com its worth about 39.00. Only problem is I don't care for soccer. It would have been nice if it was "Half Life2". Still, I guess I should be happy, its the first time I have won anything from taking surveys

tracking software - June 30, 2005
My virus scanner says otx adware was on my computer as well...I am using avast virus scanner...

- May 15, 2005
OTX Research platform used by gozingsurveys.com will implant suveillance software into your computer when you attempt to complete one of Gozing or Greenfield surveys that uses this platform. Greenfield and Gozing deny that they use data miners, but Norton Internet Security recognizes this surveillance software as a high threat to your computer security. I would rather believe Norton than Gozing.

About OTX Errors - April 11, 2005
I periodically have trouble with error messages when I try taking surveys through OTX Research. Contact the moderators regarding these error messages so they can better their site. I do have to say that OTX is completely worth taking surveys for as their payout rate is awesome, assuming you should qualify for surveys they conduct.

- April 6, 2005
OTX Research has so many problems, and so many survey incompletes, I wont even bother doing any surveys using them anymore. Also, OTX says that they don't put any data gathering programs on your computer when you use them, but, in fact, they do insert a data miner program into your computer when you access a survey using their platform. You will discover this when you do a virus scan on your computer. GoZing uses this platform almost exclusively for its surveys, so I don't bother doing their surveys anymore. Greenfield Online recently bought Gozing, and now web pages from GoZing, and OTX platforms are showing up in their surveys as well. The only thing I can figure is that Gozing is not in the business of gathering completed surveys, but rather, its in the business of gathering personal data on user's PCs otherwise inaccessible to them through data miner software.

- April 4, 2005
I have had too many problems to mention with OTX. I connect to them mostly through Gozing, but they do surveys for other companies too. If the survey is for less than 5 bucks I won't even let them waste my time.

I know what you mean - April 4, 2005
I've also had bad luck in the past with them. My biggest problem is they would sometimes send me into a loop, at least thats what it seemed like. They'd ask the same qualifying questions over and over. Anyways, I've noticed over the past month or so that they're using a slightly different format. I've taken several, and they seem to be a bit better. I'll keep trying them for a while before I make a final verdict though. Good Luck.

OTX errors - April 4, 2005
I never had much luck with OTX surveys. Most of the time I never qualify for them. I have been doing surveys for about 5 years or more. I don't do their surveys very often because I never qualify and I do get errors with a lot of their surveys.

OTX Research question?? - March 27, 2005
Is anyone else getting errors sometimes when they complete a survey by otx research. Because everytime I try and complete a survey from them, I always get a error "Website not responding" after typing in my zipcode or something at the very end. There goes another 30mins wasted time for nothing, and then the company wont respond to tech emails.

$50.00 for listening to 2 hrs of music, Tuesday, March 29-6p - March 23, 2005
We'd like your help in deciding what music you like, and what you don't like, at a session on Tuesday, March 29. If you're free for the 6pm or 8pm session, you'll listen to music for two hours, tell us what you think about each song, and get $50.00 for your time. This is no sales gimmick, we don't have anything to sell, it's market research to help a local radio station become better. Most people who've done it say they had a great fun...and it was the easiest fifty bucks they ever received. If you're available that date, and you'd like to participate, fill out the form below. Someone from Bartels Research will contact you to see if you fit the listening pattern of the people we need. Thanks for your help! I'm new here, just saying hello. :)

Hello from Southwest Missouri - waves grandly :) - March 22, 2005
Hi! I'm Theresa, and I live in a small town in SW MO, right close to the Kansas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma borders. It's wet and cool here tonight, but we're going into April, so that's to be expected! Just wanted to say hello to everyone; maybe there's someone out there that's from this way. I haven't looked at any of the other posts yet. Freebies kind of fascinate me. I love finding them in the mailbox; it makes getting the bills a little easier  Hope you're staying warm and dry! Theresa

God bless and greetings from Oklahoma City - March 18, 2005
Hi, my name is Atir and I am from oklahoma city. I am a 24 year old fulltime college student at Univ. of Tulsa in a Computer Information Security program. I have never done surveys before and this is the first time I have been introduced to them. I hope to earn some side cash for books and other college supplies, as I do not qualify for FAFSA, and fulltime work and 18 hours of school is really a butt kicker :( Best of luck to everyone and God Bless

Paid Weekly Assignments and Referrals - March 18, 2005
I have joined Cash Junkies and I am working from home! They are not involved in MLM, pyramid schemes or mail order/phone work. They are also not a business opportunity as you are never required to start your own website, or sell your own products. You are paid every week simply for completing clerical based assignments that are provided to you directly by them. The associate program is also available that will help you earn even more money, very simple.

Yes I've won a few - June 9, 2005
I've won several $5 drawings through survey spot.

- June 8, 2005
Has anyone won any drawings from surveyspot?? They give alot of drawings. I just wonder if anyone is winning them. or maybe its just the bad luck I always get.

Drawings/Sweepstakes - June 4, 2005
Just to add my 2cents...The most I have ever won in a sweepstakes/Draw was $100. I have also won a few $5 dollar draws. So, yes people do win. As far as Greenfield is concerned...well let me say that right now I do not hold a very high opinion of them. I have done several interactive surveys for them with a payout of $25-$30 a piece and have had to fight tooth and nail to receive my pay. I am currently waiting on $52 dollars that I cashed out a month ago and they still owe me another $55. This has been going on since back in January of this year. Regards, Pink Panther76

I would not doubt that those people have won - March 25, 2005
I would not question the validity that the people listed have actually won. Greenfield has been around for a very long time, and they'd have been in hot water were they not giving away prizes as stated. They will not give out any more info than what they do because it's a privacy issue, I certainly would not want them posting all of my personal info (not that I wouldn't love 50 more emails a day from some wackos to add to my daily spam). What I'm basically saying is that your odds to actually be one of those people, seems to be pretty slim. You take survey after survey for a contest with them, and never seem to win. That's not to say that eventually you wouldn't, it's just how much time are you willing to spend to eventually win.

Surveys for drawings - March 23, 2005
I've read your response about Greenfield and others regarding surveys for alleged chances to win prizes or money. Lately Greenfield has been listing alleged winners by first name, last initial and an alleged city and state. In other words there is nothing there that I can verify. I cannot say that the payments were not made, only that I can't verify.

Thanks for the Information - March 21, 2005
Thanks for the information, Chris. I really appreciate it. God bless you! Jessica

greenfield - March 20, 2005
Hi. What I do is check Greenfield's site and do surveys that have a guarenteed amount. I won quite a few $10 drawings from them months and months ago but lately they're very slow even with guarenteed payments. I have started keeping track of the survey numbers and subject and the date I filled them out and have sent Emails when it seems way too long for payment. They always say everyone will be paid when project is completed however the Emails usually result in a payment to my account. Hope you find this helpful.

I totally agree - March 19, 2005
When Greenfield offered cash incentives, I made sure I did every one of those surveys. I actually made some good money with them in the beginning. At least I knew I got something for my time. But now that they've changed to drawings and once in awhile cash, I don't do them either. I actually emailed them as to why they changed from cash to drawings and they didn't have a good reason why they changed. So, I totally agree with Chris, stick with the ones that pay cash and points for sure and leave drawings as a last resort especially with Greenfield.

Question about surveys for drawing entries. - March 18, 2005
Here's an email I received and my response. Thought you might find it helpful. [b:4192536510]Original email[/b:4192536510] Hi Chris, I am a little concerned and need some encouragement with regard to taking surveys that offer "drawings" instead of any points for merchandise and/or cash, coupons, things of that nature. I seem to spend a whole lot of time on them and I am getting discouraged. Through your expertise, can you answer my following concerns for me: When you take the time to fill out surveys that offer drawings only, do they actually perform drawings where there are winners on these surveys? If they do, the odds seem very low that one would even win anything. I have one survey company in particular that I have been filling out surveys for over 6 MONTHS, and they always say that my odds for winnings are very high. I am skeptical about this company. What do you know about Greenfieldonline.com? I don't see it on your list. Lastly, in your opinion do you think I am just wasting my time taking these surveys that offer drawings only? I love to take surveys, but I would like to feel that I am rewarded in some way. Please advise when you can. Thanks for your help. I really like your website, and I admire your creativity. [b:4192536510]My Response[/b:4192536510] I've actually had pretty good luck with drawings, with one exception... Greenfield. Don't let Greenfield throw you off, the problem is they send out way too many surveys and don't give out enough prizes. Unfortunately most people who take a lot of surveys lump all survey sites together when they are referring to a particular aspect of them, in this case drawings. I'll bet if you look back (I have a seperate folder in my email program for every survey site I belong to for east tracking) that you have taken more drawing surveys for Greenfield than from all others combined. So, here's what I do. Like I said, I have a seperate folder for each survey site, I have rules set up in my email program to move emails from those sites directly to those folders. When I see I have mail from Greenfield, I do not rush to it and do any other surveys I might have first. When and if I have time I will look through the Greenfield emails to see if any are for straight cash, not a drawing. If so I take them if not, then maybe I might take them if I have nothing better to do (which normally means I don't take them). As for the rest of them, just look at the invite when it comes. There's a lot of them that have a 1 in 10 or 1 in 5 chance of winning, of course these are going to have lots of small prizes, for example they'll usually have a larger type grand prize (maybe $500 or $100) then maybe a $50 second prize then a whole bunch of $5 or $10's. I've actually won quite a few $5 and $10 prizes, I know I won a $50 one once and probably a few others. Most of the invitations will either state the odds, or tell how many prizes they're giving out. Make sure you look when they say they're giving away, say $5000, to see if it's $5000 to one person or if its spread out in smaller amounts. Obviously the more actual prizes, ie. smaller prizes, you'll have better odds. As for those that offer large payouts for a few people, I still like to do them when I have time to. I look at these like playing the lotto, but instead of paying cash for a ticket, it costs me some time, you never know. So, I think you'll find that just by eliminating Greenfield as a priority, you'll be eliminating a good number of drawing surveys that you've been taking and therefore start to see a better "win" vs. time spent ratio.

Survey spot also has a new tracking system as well. - June 9, 2005
If you go here https://www.surveyspot.com/panelist/PanelistManager?action=Home you should be able to login to your account and see if you have any balances. This is a fairly new system for Survey Spot. I didn't even realize it but I have some cash in there. If you don't have an account, you may have to activate your password. You can find info on their homepage http://www.surveyspot.com

Survey Spot switching reward type in April - March 10, 2005
Keep an eye out for an email from them. You'll need to update in their system. Looks like they're swithing to an online account type system.

- December 4, 2006
SO has anyone ever been paid? Has anyone ever reached that magical $100 dollar mark?..lol I am a member and I have approximately $50 dollars confirmed, but it has taken me several months to do that. That is because I meticulously search through the crap and try to do legit paying surveys or promotions. This site is not for the faint of heart, it is designed to take advantage of those ignorant to marketing scams and such. I would not recommend this company/site to anyone but as a last resort. However, I retain the right to change my mind, IF, I ever reach that magical number AND get a check....lol But you wont catch me holding my breath

- November 3, 2006
Just don't get your hopes up too much Destiny1028...I have never known of anyone who has been paid by Panda. Not to say it couldn't happen...but I just haven't ever heard of it happening...But I have heard of a lot of people who tried and never got paid.

- October 31, 2006
I joined Pandaresearch about 5 days ago. I have $300.00 plus pending and $23.00 confirmed. I don't like the fact that you have to make $100.00 before they pay you.

Panda Research - July 11, 2006
Thanks for the input, Happy Girl, I think I'll do just that.

- July 5, 2006
Linda, just be forewarned, I have heard your exact same story from person after person. All have gotten into the hundreds and I have never know a single one who has been paid. Have they paid people? Maybe, but I just haven't ever heard of it. Honestly, I would suggest dropping them and moving on.

Panda Research - July 4, 2006
I have done several surveys for Panda Research, the first few almost 90 days ago. I have supposedly racked up $150, but have only been "approved" for $25 - hence, I can't get paid because the requirement is a minimum of $100 approved. I filed one complaint, and they said they pay about eight weeks after the client reports I have fulfilled the requirements of the survey. So I can only assume either their clients aren't talking to them, or they are providing free labor.

research how my pending pay outs never get approved - November 15, 2005
  I foolishly joined this crock, and commenced in "earning $198.00 in about 3 weeks. Funny part about it has been well over 6 months and all but the intial $10 (giving to me by signing up) is still under payment pending approval. How hard is it to see that I enetered in my email address, which was the qualifiying factor.

Focus Groups and Taste Tests - March 11, 2005
Jessica, the way to make money fast is to do focus groups or taste tests. I will be making over $200 in 2 weeks between my husband and I. If you want to discuss further email me at [email protected]. Put "Survey Information" in the subject line as I get alot of emails. Surveys are great and I made over $1000 in 2004, but you can't count on them. FG's & TT's are real strong right now so it would be a good time to get in. I'll be watching for your email.

glad i could be of help - March 10, 2005
feel free to bookmark whatever you like. and by the way, the stuff i mentioned about this site, is pretty much what i look for in all sites before i join or list them. good luck to you,

Thanks for the Information - March 10, 2005
Thanks for the information. I didn't know if that was standard or not. I did notice that it wasn't on your list. [i:0657ef411a]By the way, I don't have a newsletter (yet). Let me know which one you did sign up for, especially if they said it was from this site. [/i:0657ef411a] Oh, my bad. No, it wasn't a newsletter that said it was from this site. I've got newsletters on the brain. I'm signing up here and the section I found was this: http://us.freepaidsurveys.net/ussurveydirectory.html And all of the other information you have here. And I'm signing up to this board. Sorry. I've got newsletters on the brain. Guess what job I'm doing right now. :D Been working on one for the past three weeks. The hardest part is starting it from scratch. Thanks for confirming the information. I depend on my father a lot for information like this but since he was new to all of this, he told me what his opinion was. And he thought it sounded rather fishy. But since he said he didn't know about all this, he told me to check with some other people who did this. And this group was one of the first ones that came to my mind. I'm glad that I shouldn't have to pay for free samples. The reason I'm filling out surveys is because money is tight. Plus I tend to feel guilty if I request something that I don't plan on using. Thanks again. God bless you! Jessica P.S. If it's all right with you, I'd like to bookmark your response so I can use it to refer back to.

No experience with them - March 9, 2005
I've had no experience with them, but at first glance I see a few things which make me a bit weary. First is this phrase on their homepage: [i:d7b9981c24]"All Participants will receive a Free 2 Day 3 Night vacation from Summer Bay Resorts just for registering with us."[/i:d7b9981c24] Hmmmm...this sounds vaguely familiar....oh, yea, that's what the last 300 pieces of junk mail that have graced my circular file said on them. Second, they keep referring to "sponsor offers", not surveys "sponsor offers". I took this from their FAQs Page: [i:d7b9981c24](6) What do we mean by "getting approved" for a sponsor offer? By "getting approved" for an offer, you are satisfying the requirements outlined on this page. [b:d7b9981c24]For credit card offers, you must be approved for and activate your credit card by making a purchase, balance transfer or cash advance to "complete" the offer. *[/b:d7b9981c24] When our sponsors report to us that you've completed their survey and offer, your account will be updated accordingly. This will usually take 6 to 8 weeks. [/i:d7b9981c24] Next is the payout minimum, $100 [i:d7b9981c24](15) Do I have to redeem my free gift by a certain date? No, We will keep carry forwarding your balance till you have reached your minimum payment threshold of $100. [/i:d7b9981c24] Standard minimum for most survey sites is $10-$15 and that's because they send you a check, these guys are all PayPal. Next is this section of their privacy policy: [i:d7b9981c24]Marketing Partners: This Privacy Policy applies to consumers that have signed up on the www.Panda Research .com website. [b:d7b9981c24]We may use the personal information that you supply to us and we may work with other third party businesses to bring selected retail opportunities to our members via direct mail, email and telemarketing. These businesses may include providers of direct marketing services and applications, including lookup and reference, data enhancement, suppression and validation and email marketing. However, we may send you offers on behalf of our partners. [/b:d7b9981c24]Keep in mind that if you take advantage of an offer from a Panda Research .com partner and become their customer, they may independently wish to send offers to you. In this case, you will need to inform them separately if you wish to decline receiving future offers from them. [/i:d7b9981c24] Then there's this section of the terms and conditions: [i:d7b9981c24]A.4) Panda Research NEWSLETTER [b:d7b9981c24]AND OTHER EMAILS[/b:d7b9981c24]. By signing up for Panda Research, you are opting-in to receive Panda Research newsletters [b:d7b9981c24]and other special offer emails[/b:d7b9981c24]. If you do not wish to receive these emails, you may opt-out at any time, by clicking on the opt-out link in the email messages you receive from Panda Research.[/i:d7b9981c24] OK, let's see, what else...Oh, this little snippit from their "termination and cancellation" section: [i:d7b9981c24](f) inactivity (defined as the failure to earn any cash incentive in your Panda Research account) for a continuous six-month period[/i:d7b9981c24] Notce they didn't say that you were inactive, just that you didn't "earn" a cash incentive, which in case of the credit card offer above, I actually have to spend money to get credit. I see. How many truly FREE offers do you think they'll have in order to reach my $100 minimum? There were a couple of other things that I didn't particularly care for as well. Now, this might be an OK site. I'm sure however that you will receive a good deal of email from their "partners" and I'm also pretty sure that a lot of the "sponsor offers" will have a catch. Now it also states on their account that shipping is free. So, I'm sure the shipping that you are seeing is from their "partners". If you need to pay shipping for a "Free" sample, than it's not free. To me, if you can't ship it to me free than you don't really want me to try it. That'd be like me paying the neighbor to babysit their kids, just doesn't make sense. Be very careful with this one. By the way, I don't have a newsletter (yet). Let me know which one you did sign up for, especially if they said it was from this site. Hope this helps

Panda Research? Legit? Or a Scam? - March 9, 2005
Hey guys, I'm fairly new to this whole survey business but I am hoping that I can, with a fair bit of time, earn enough money to purchase my schoolbooks for college. One of the sites that I found through another survey site was this: http://www.pandaresearch.com/ It all seems well and good. However, the majority of the surveys you fill out require that you pay X amount for shipping and handling on a free sample. Is this legitimate? I'm not quite sure why they are paying the survey taker, but still charging money for this. Shipping and handling in most cases seems to be almost $6, but they're paying around $10. Has anyone had any experiences with them? Good or bad? How can this work? Thanks in advance. And, Chris, I love your newsletter. Just signed up for it. God bless you!

I don't belong to one. But I am interested. I saw one once that was a "auto surf" meaning you download a small program that receives web pages automatically, and you just look at them I guess. If anyone knows more feel free to post.

paid to search - March 6, 2005
Does anyone belong to a paid to search site? I'm wondering how it works and if they are worth the time and effort. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Homescan - March 14, 2005
Chris: I received the snail mail about this scanning and determined that it would be time consuming and there is a definate limit as to what I'm willing to do for chances of receiving gifts.

AC Neilson Homescan - New Opportunity - March 6, 2005
This is from AC Neilson, they send you an electronic scanner, you scan your items after you shop and you get points and drawing entries. You can check out all the details here: HomeScan

Also if anyone would try deleting one of my reviews - March 5, 2005
I'm curious if you can delete one of my reviews. Hopefully not.

Tried it... - March 3, 2005
Chris,, i tried to write a review but it required me to log in first. I hope this is what you were looking for.. Indyst

Thanks, unfortunately there's some major glitches - March 3, 2005
Right now it's letting me post more than 1 review per item. If you don't mind, I like to ask you to try a few things and let me know what happens. First, see if it will let you post a review without signing in. And second, post a review then go back in and see if it will let you post another to the same item. I'd appreciate it. Thanks again

Looks GOod - March 3, 2005
Chris, I think you did a STAND UP job on this. I like it alot Indyst

I've got a beta version of my rating section up and running. - March 2, 2005
If you'd like to try it out, you can find it here: /reviews I've still got some bugs to work out, and there's only a couple of test sites you can mock review, but you can see how it's going to work and play around with it a bit. I'd appreciate any feedback or experiences that you may have. As this is only a beta test, all categories and beta reviews will be deleted once I'm ready to really launch it. I'd like to know if you think it's something you would use as a resource once it's finished. Also, any suggestions for categories and/or rating criteria would be great.

Fantastic! - March 4, 2005
Would you mind going ahead and registering, then posting a review and then try to post another review for the same item. Maybe it was just letting me duplicate post because I'm the owner. Anyone else who would like to try this as well, would be great. If it's blocking everyone else from making duplicate posts, then it'll be just about done and will save me a LOT of troubleshooting. It's fully functional now so feel free to play around with it as much as you'd like, even try to trick it if you can. All of the example ratings up there will be deleted once I launch it for real. I'm pretty psyched to get it running for real, hopefully I can get a good response. Thanks again

Beta testing is great! We tested a digital camera over Thanksgiving, and just got a brand new one ($300-500 retail)in the mail as our incentive. And we just got a 3 in 1 printer to evaluate, and then get to keep. Has anyone else done any beta testing? Can we compare notes with what companies? Thanks for any info.

Hey Chris, Thanks a lot for such a great reply and such good advice! I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to write so much so dont apologize for that. But I do want to apologize myself for taking so long to reply to this. I have been to the forum quite a bit but I hadnt checked this topic in quite awhile. In the meantime I have done a lot of changes to my website. Though the surveys page doesnt have a google PR yet some of my other pages do. I have learned a lot about SEO in the past couple of months and am still working on changes and updates. I do expect that PR to start going up in the near future. I will definitely consider your offer for a link exchange if it is still open. David

Congratulations!!! - February 26, 2005
Getting your own domain and identity is definately the first step. Looking good so far. Nice layout, easy navigation, you're definately on the right track. Here's some advice to help you out. On your survey page, the links to the survey sites you have listed take you away from your page completely. Add the "TARGET="_blank" tag to the end of your links so your page stays open. Look into signing up for OffersQuest. You'll be able to make more referral money if you use them. an NFO referral pays $4.20 each and you'll find quite a few others on there as well. I'd appreciate you using my referral link above should you decide to join them. They have a lot of sites that I wasn't getting paid for before and really boosted my earnings. There is a minimum traffic requirement, so I'm not sure if you'll qualify right away, but if nothing else you can use the traffic exchange system that I set up on the site to reach that requirement. You'll want to retool your keywords a bit. I would highly recommend downloading this program AddWeb. You can get a free 30 day trial. You'll definately want to buy something like this eventually, but for now, you'll be able to make a lot of improvemnets to your site in the 30 free days. You'll find lots of good tools within the program, but on of the most useful is the "keyword finder". You can type in a keyword and it will go out and find variations of that keyword and tell you how many times that keyword was searched for in the previous month. If you'd like to see a sample of what I mean, send me an email with a couple of keywords that you'd like to target, and I'll send you back a couple of sample reports. You'll want to be a bit more specific in your keywords, especially when you're first starting out. For example, the keyword "affiliate program" was searched for 124,384 times last month. That means that every affiliate program out there is going to be using "affiliate program" as a keyword, which basically amounts to your site being lost at sea. Now the keyword "affiliate program directory" had 3,757 searches done last month. Now, this keyword applies very well to your site and probably applies very little to very many affiliate sites (remember with affiliate sites EVERY person who signs up for an affiliate program gets there own website, of which I'm sure "affiliate program" is on their keyword list, but there's a good chance that "affiliate program directory" is not) so by being a bit more specific in your keywords, you can eliminate a lot of the websites that you are competing against for search engine placement. It will be much easier for you to get some kind of decent search engine ranking because there will not be nearly as many sites with that keyword, remember even 2% of 3,757 is much better than 0% of 124,384. Once your site becomes a powerhouse on affiliate markieting, then you can take on some of the more competitive keywords. Also, make the keywords on your other pages more specific. For example, on your suvey page you have keywords like "cash", "money" ect... These keywords are not going to do your page any justice at all. If you go to Yahoo and type in the word "Cash" you are going to get a kazillion results of which a kabillion of them are going to be more popular thatn yours for the word cash. If you make your keywords more survey related, you'll not only be competing with a smaller number of sites, but you'll know that if someone does find your survey page when searching for surveys, that it will be of interest to them. I would recommend the same for your other pages, make your paid email page keywords specifically "paid email" related. Use the AddWeb program to look for keywords that express the uniqueness of your site. For example, your site name is Honest Information, so you may want to run a check on, let's say, "honest survey information" or something else that adds some uniqueness to your site, and see what comes up. If you can find something like that, that really fits your site well, you can reach the top of a search engine for that term much easier. Even if, for example "honest survey information" only gets searched for 100 times in a month, if you're number one for that term (which is not that unrealistic for something unique) that's 100, specifically targetted hits, just think about if you were searching for "honest survey information" and you pulled up a site called Honest Information, with survey info in it, are you going to take a look? Absolutely. Once you have keywords that you are happy with, use them in the content of your site. Keywords do no good unless they are repeated in the part of your page that the user sees. Your "Freebies" page has multiple banners on it. Search engines see words, so basically they will see nothing on this page. I would add a short narrative describing each Freebie program either before of after each banner, with some of your keywords for that page in the narrative. Not only will search engines like it a bunch more, but from a visitors perspective, if I just see a bunch of banners, there is very little chance that I will actually click on one. However, if you tell me a bit about it, I just might. Make sure you submit your site to the search engines once a month, no more, no less. Your webhosting should provide you with a free submitter, if not AddWeb has a submitter built into it (of course you'd have to buy it at that point, but believe me it's worth it). Once you submit it, expect it to take 3 or so months before it shows up anywhere. You can check to see if your sites been indexed by typing your domain, without the http:// part into their search, if it doesn't come up with anything, your site has not been indexed. Once you get your site up there, AddWeb has a Rank Checker that will check your ranking for your keywords in the search engines automatically, very handy. If you'd like to add a link to Free Paid Surveys somewhere on your survey page (after your referral links of course), I'll give you a link on my survey links page. I don't normally ad links that have no ranking, but since you've been a member of this board for a while and seem as if you will stick with it and have some ranking after a while, I'll make an exception. This will help you out in several ways. First, by linking to a somewhat well ranked survey site, it will add "points" to your survey page. It will give your visitors an additional survey resource, therefor increasing your credability and since Free Paid Surveys is already indexed by the major search engines there is a good chance that they will find your site through my links page (of course this might already happen because the link is in the forum). Well that's about it, sorry for writing a book on ya. Congratulations and good luck

Chris would you mind if I published your post as an article on my site? It was very well written and provided good answers. http://www.honestinformation.com/articles I would put your name and link to your site at the top, also there is an "about author area" Let me know what you think David

Here's my advice - March 25, 2005
As far as links, I try to keep mine related to my website. It is true that a link from another site has a certain value depending on the site. I would download the Google toobar. It will tell you the PR (page rank) for a particular page, the higher the better. Now, you have to worry about more than just a page's PR. For example, I could exchange links with say, McDonalds (would never happen, but lets say I do). Ok, now McDonalds is going to have a huge PR for terms such as, McDonalds, fast food etc...but will have pretty much no relevance what so ever for paid surveys. So, the link would help slightly, but not as much as having a good solid link from lets say "survey savvy". You also need to be concerned when exchanging links that you're not filling your site with links to other pages that have no relevance to your topic. Spiders look at who you are linking to as well as who links to you. The best kind of links are one way links (they link to you but you don't link to them). This basically is saying that your site is soo good that people just link to you, no exchange necessary. An ok way to do this is through related forums, if they let you post your link. You also don't want to make your site a link farm. You go to some sites that have thousands of links to a bunch of, well, crap. They've just exchanged link with whomever will. Therefor they have pages upon pages of links that are of no interest at all to thir visitors. Unfortunately this stategy will work for a while, but search engine spiders get smarter and smarter and will probably penalize for this sort of thing. Better to build good quality links now, that way you have a good quality site. Spiders will keep evolving, so if you are using tricks now, they'll eventually catch up with you and your page will plummet. By building quality, it might take you a bit longer to reach the top, but you'll have nothing to fear down the road. Remember that search engines are trying to make their user search as relevant as possible to their users. To get links, start using the search engines. Find sites that are related to yours, but not direct competitors (you can actually use direct competitors as well, but you run the risk of your visitors liking their site better). Then send them an email to see if they want to exchange links. Also look at their links, there's a good chance that if the people who link to them are willing to link to a similar site, that they'll link to you as well. You can look at organized link exchanges as well, just be a bit picky who you trade with. You can also do a link exchange type software to manage your links, that's just personal preference. I do mine by hand, but I don't have a whole lot either. I just try to get a few here and there in between everything else.

- March 23, 2005
Thanks Chris for taking the time to look through my site. I appreciate the response and advice as well. I think I have those "home" links fixed now. Except there are a couple of pages that I may not have links to from all other pages. Such as the PTR page. I dont want to remove it but I dont really want it along with my main site either. Hmm well, I have tried to organize my keywords and descrip tags on most of the pages. I am still new at that sort of thing. But at least on the home page, webmasters, affiliates, and surveys page I have a set of keywords that are included in the body text. One VERY important factor, from what I have been reading, is "link popularity". Basically, inbound links to your site = popluarity. It is easier to manipulate the search engine spider with meta tags so these crawlers are looking more heavily at inbound links to determine rankings. Naturally, the value of any one inbound link is based upon what type of site has placed the link. A link on cnn.com would be worth much more than one at auntsueswidgets.com. (Most free link exchanges and "free" websites arent counted) OK so that is a good question for you Chris. What would be your recommendations on getting inbound links? (General question for all not just me specifically) David

You've been busy - March 19, 2005
Looking good so far. You pretty much nailed it on the head. You can build a website about anything that interests you, then find some advertising outlets (there's plenty of them out there) and run ads that are appropriate for your site. Looks like you're ready for Seach Engine Optimization. Quite an interesting step. Looks like Yahoo's got you index already, so that's good, just getting the rankings the hard part. Let me know if you need any advice, be glad to help, it's nice to have another webmaster to talk to. Also, just a suggestion, I couldn't find a link back to your homepage from some of your subordinate pages. It's a good idea to provide an easy to find link back to your home page, especially once you start getting some rankings in the search engines. For example, in a perfect world, your home page would rank well for the keywords that you have for your homepage, but you would also want your survey page to rank well for your survey keywords. Let's say I found your survey page and liked what you had to offer, if there were an easy to find link to your homepage, I very well might be inclined to visit it and see what else you had to say. Anyways, keep at it. Looks good.

Affiliate marketing really works - March 18, 2005
Just an update. I know that this works because I have earned over $200 in commissions just in the past 14 days. I know thats nothing to yell and jump about (yet) but if it keeps up?? Its simple. You build a web site about whatever interests you. That way it is fun and enjoyable so you dont mind working on it as much. While youre doing that you sign up with Linkshare and shareasale and some other affiliates. Study all the merchants available and select those that would be of interest to your visitors and then start mixing your ads in your pages. Next you are ready to submit your site to the search engines and think about other ways to promote it. Hopefully you optimized your meta tags and key words and all that. You can find out about how to get your own web site (a free one is available), which affiliate representatives and direct affiliates to join, how to optimize your web site for search engines, plus lots of informative articles on how all this works. You can spend a little money on things like pay per clicks or other advertising or your own domain name but you can do all this without having to pay out anything if thats how you want to go. How to earn money as an affiliate - February 22, 2005
Hello everyone, Here is a site that has the information you need to earn money with your website as an affiliate (If you dont have a website you can get one free from Bravehost). Affiliate marketing allows you the opportunity to match your existing content with links to other websites, and get paid for it. Companies like - eBay, Ecampus.com, Call Wave, Club Mom, PeoplePC, Netzero, Netscape, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, DVD Planet, Ancestry.com and many more. Even Walmart and Target have affiliate programs! This doesnt cost you a dime. No credit card is needed. Yep that's right - February 23, 2005
Most of the sites are a one time referral bonus, so there's not really any need to track the number of referrals. You'll just get a credit for the amount that you get for that referral. Your Say does send an email notification (do they really still have my photo up there?). Survey Savvy lists the number of referrals that you have when you login, since they pay per referral survey. It Pays to Learn also lists your referrals.

- February 23, 2005
YourSay is the only one I know of that will notify you. They actually send you the persons email addy. This is the best way to know exactly who is in your downline that I'm aware of. http://www.yoursay.com/d26039028 You can also see a great picture of Chris there!

Referrals notification question - February 22, 2005
Greetings everyone. I'm really wanting to get involved with referrals with the various sites. I would like to know if you are notified if someone that you referred signs up with any of the sites. Or do you just have to go to each site, and see if anyone has signed up? Thank you.

Your welcome - February 26, 2005
I usually post new survey sites here as soon as I find them and check them out. I usually post new sites to the "New Additions" section of them website in batches, so there's usually some lag time. As far as the best sites, you can check out the Best Paid Surveys section of the website. This is a collection of my favorites. However, there are lots of other good one's too. As far as one's to avoid, pretty much all of the sites on Free Paid Surveys are good. I don't add them unless I would join them myself. The best way to tell if a site is not good, is to read their privacy policy. If their privacy policy states something like "we will sometimes send you exciting offers from our partners" then stay away. The exceptions being Memolink and My Points, which give you points for reading email from their partners, and don't overwhelm you with them. One not so good site, that comes to mind is "Survey Networks". If you've ever taken any of their surveys, the majority of the questions go something like this: "Would ou like to receive free information on wonderful new hair removal products" or "Would you like to learn how to save thousands on refinancing your home". Questions like these are another good sign to stay away. Also, their prizes are always something like a new BMW or a Yacht, or just something rediculously big. Another indicator that I use, which is not always the case but prompts me to look into things a bit further, are survey invitations in HTML. Big flashy pictures that say "Win this" or something similar. I would say 99% of all good sites send plain text email invitations. Oh, and don't EVER pay money for a list of survey sites. There's plenty of them out there that make BIG promises, like that you can make thousands per month by taking surveys. Truth is, you'll find the same info on this site for free, and I do my best to not lead you in the wrong direction. Also, if you ever find a site that you are not sure of, you can always post it to the forum and get some input (which I prefer because it makes a good resource for others) or you email it to me directly. Hope this helps,

Thanks for that link. I signed up for them and am wondering what the best sites are and which ones I should avoid. Also looking for paid focus groups on line.

New Survey Site - February 22, 2005

I've done mystery shopping and surveys! - February 24, 2005
I've done them both, and I'm staying with surveys. I like to be able to stay home and make money. When I did ms it always took them 2-6 weeks to reimburse me and I can't afford that. I would recommend www.jcandassociates.com. They're excellent! I worked for them for about 6 months, then I found surveys. They actually send you gc's to use rather then your own money. They're great! I've signed up with Mars as well, but haven't received anything from them, so they may be a dud! I tend to do surveys that offer cash and points mainly as I don't totally trust the drawings. I actually made over $1000 in 2004, and will do even better in 2005! If you want to converse further email me at [email protected]

Surveys - February 19, 2005
Hi Chris and everyone, I work for a local theater as a lighting tech and have strange hours. Thought this would be a good way to spend some free time. Found your site by accident. I was wondering has anyone got into the Mars Research website. They seem high paying but I can never log in. I think I must have got on someone's phone list since I have been getting hang up calls and I have an unlisted number. How is go-zing? I was switching from a Gateway very old computer to a new dell and got two surveys. Got one done but I missed out on the $30.00 survey. I signed up for several mystery shopping sites. Does anyone know anyone good ones? I have my first assignment tomorrow from Satisfaction Services. I have to do a breakfast evaluation. Still looking for that Pine Cone banners. What survey groups are a waste of time? I am avoiding any that has too many pop ups. I signed up for TGI Fridays and got a free $8.00 appetizer. Does anyone of any restaurant or food surveys that pay? Thanks for all you help!! :D

$50 Builders Survey - February 17, 2005
I received this Invite , and cant use it: Good Luck! Are you a homebuilder, or do you know any, who would like to earn $50 by filling out a quick, easy written survey about a product in the building industry? We are a national consumer research firm hired by a client to do a study using a large sampling of homebuilders across the U.S. on the topic of Home Wrap. We are NOT selling anything. We have already finished the first phase of our study by interviewing 141 building professionals in 26 states about home wrap, #15 felt, reasons for using, what product qualities they like, why it matters to the builders, etc., and they all got their money from us. Now, we are in Phase Two: quick written surveys. Would you be interested in taking 15-20 minutes (in the next week or two) to complete written surveys about various specific home wrap products you use or have used? We pay $50 per panelist. You would fill out one brief survey for each of up to 3 different brands you use now or that you have used and have knowledge of. There are no fill in the blanks with your comments questions; its just a circle a number, multiple choice type tool that wouldnt take very long. We would value your input. We are trying to recruit about 300 builders who use or have used some different home wrap brands (or #15 felt instead) who would be willing to participate: at least 100 surveys about each of several different brands. The survey is quick and easy, and we hope it will be helpful for the building industry. If you are interested, please hit reply (or you could call me toll free at 1-866-686-0351) and tell me the following: 1. Your name 2. Address 3. Phone 4. Business name 5. Brands of home wrap you use or have used (so I can send you the correct survey forms). Please tell me all of the brands you have used and can comment on. If we still need panelists in your particular product(s)-used category when you respond, then I will mail out to you a survey for up to 3 of the brands you use for you to fill out in a week or so after you receive it, along with a stamped return envelope. After you send it back (if postmarked no later than March 5), we will turn around and send you your thank you check of $50. Easiest money youve ever made, I bet! And, if you do respond, do you happen to know any other builders who might be interested in participating? Wed love to send them an email like this. I dont know how difficult it will be to recruit busy builders for this survey, but I would think you and your builder friends might find it interesting, and it is likely to benefit the building industry by having better and easier-to-use products. Thanks! Oh, and if you want to learn more about us (Baker St Solutions), feel free to go to www.bakerstsolutions.com Thank you very much, and I hope to hear from a bunch of you hard-working builders soon, if it works out for you! Appreciatively, Dave Smith [email protected] 1-866-686-0351 1200 Executive Parkway Suite #355 Eugene, OR 97401

Member Feedback - May 26, 2005
[quote:5da8a21356]I am especially interested in hearing from those of you who do NOT live in the US. Since I do live in the US, I think this will be helpful in providing some additional info that I don't have experience with. [/quote:5da8a21356] Chris, Have you heard anything back? It would be interesting to find out which surveys are best for International members. Cammie :)

I got an email from them as well - February 19, 2005
I was just feeling them out before I posted them. I receive emails from different survey sites from time to time but I like to give them a trial and make sure they are not scammers before I post. So far, it seems as if they're ok. Would not advise against joining them at this point.

Thank you for the information! - February 17, 2005

Free Paid Surveys would like your input! - February 16, 2005
I am currently working on adding visitor testimonials to all of the geographically specific survey sections of Free Paid Surveys. I have the pages created, and will probably launch them in the next few days, but I would like to add some actual testimonials. Basically, I'm looking for any of you who would like to email me several lines on your favorite surveys sites (or least favorite, although I'm trying to keep things as positve as possible for now) that I will post to the website.I am especially interested in hearing from those of you who do NOT live in the US. Since I do live in the US, I think this will be helpful in providing some additional info that I don't have experience with. If you'd like to add a testimonial to the website, please send me an email at [email protected]. Please include which survey site you are writing about, only include 1 survey site per testimonial, keep your testimonial to 1 short paragraph, BE HONEST, include your name (first name and last initial only), the country and area of that country that you live. I'd appreciate any input that you have and hope that this will create an additional resource for visitors to the site.

Spreadsheets - June 24, 2005
Hi All! I have a spread sheet for my surveys but I find it difficult to be acurate. I have one list for money I have actually recieved and another for money I have earned but not been paid yet. Shocker but the two numbers are about $100 different. Do you all have that problem? I wonder if someone would send me a template for me to plug my numbers into just to see if I am off. I use works but I can convert Excel spread sheets. I bet Chris has one on the site somewhere for download but I have meatloaf in the oven so I don't dare to look for fear of having charcoal loaf for lunch! Don't forget to Download KerClink and join my forum! Buh bye!

Just an organizing idea for you. - February 26, 2005
Mickey: I simply conclude that making the log entry is part of taking the survey and a good part of that is copy and past operations. I also do a monthly recap at the end of each month by copying the log entries for that month into another spreadsheet and appling other calculatiions.

Keeping track of surveys done - February 24, 2005
I tried that too, but I couldn't keep up with it. I do around 20 per week, so I take the time to do them, not track them. I do, however, keep them as "surveys done" in my yahoo email. This way I can look back as to the last time I did a survey for any certain company. I've actually done a survey about how many surveys I've done for other companies, so this came in handy!

- February 23, 2005
I keep two spread sheets too, mine are in works. The first is simply a list of the companies and sites as you described. The second is a log of fthe surveys that I've taken. This includes the date received, the source and survey number if available, the time the survey is started, the time finished and the date it's finished as well as any remarks that I may have....printable or not....javascript:emoticon(':)') Smile

Yes, I agree - February 19, 2005
I'm actually a spreadsheet freak. Excel is my fortee (spelling is not). It takes a bit of time to set up but, can be very helpful in the longrun. I use the two in conjunction. I set my email up to catch the emails, then track everything in excel. I find that setting the email up allows me a bit more flexability and allows me to pre-organize my excel entries.

Sounds like a great idea! - February 17, 2005
Chris, this sounds like a very good idea. I may do it as well. Something else that I thought might help people as they do surveys is to do a spread sheet. I have all the survey companies I work with on a spreadsheet in Excel (Lotus would work too!) and it contains all info, url, user id, password, incentives, etc. This helps alot as you can't always use the same user/pw for every survey company. I also have a planner that I've used as a transportable "spread sheet". This helps me stay organized and on top of my companies. Just thought I'd pass it on.

Just an organizing idea for you. - February 12, 2005
Don't know why I've never mentioned this before, maybe I'll add a section to the website. I have my Microsoft Outlook setup with a folder for each and every survey site that has sent me anything. In my "inbox", I have a folder called "Surveys" and in that folder I have a separate folder for every single survey site. I started out with the survey folder and as I received email from a survey site, I would create a folder for that site and then make a rule in my Outlook to move any future email from that company to that folder. This does make for a lot of folders (I currently have 182), but you can collapse the survey folder when you're not using it. This works well for several reasons. First, you can prioritize your surveys. For example, I always do Greenfield surveys last, if I have time to get to them at all. This way, I can leave the Greenfield invitations sit in the "Greenfield" folder, until I have time to get to them, and they won't be cluttering up my inbox. Same goes for survey sites that I like the most. If I see I have new mail from "Survey Savvy" or "Vividence", etc... I make sure I check them as soon as I can. This is also nice for seeing who is sending you invitations, how many you are getting, what the rewards are, etc... First, you'll know if a survey site has sent you anything, because you'll have a folder for them. And, second, you can go to the folder for any given site and see how many invites they've sent and see what the normal rewards are for that site. Anyways, this has worked real well for me and I thought I'd pass it on.
