Good Job Who does?

Postby fpsceo » Fri Jun 17, 2005 3:21 am

Great web site. I see you are using PHP. Who does your site, some programmer or do you do it all yourself?

One more question with the above one Chris

Postby fpsceo » Fri Jun 17, 2005 3:27 am

I saw your comment about the APLUS hosting place. Is that place expensive, how much do you pay/month for your PHP site here, since it is more complicated?

Built it myself

Postby FreePaidSurveys » Fri Jun 17, 2005 12:56 pm

I built the entire thing myself. Went out and bought a PHP & MySql for Dummies book, and just went to town. I always wanted to switch it over to a database driven site, since I have the same link listed in several locations (different directories). So now all I have to do is change links in one place, verrry nice.

As far as APLUS, the PHP is included in their hosting plans. It's there, and you can either use it or not use it. It doesn't cost anything extra. That's the one thing I like about APLUS, they give you lots of extra goodies with your hosting plan. I think it costs around $120 per year, and that includes domain name registration (or at least it did when I signed up). I'll put a referral banner on the homepage if you are thinking of using them, Id appreciate the referral. Also if you'd like to know any more about them, I'd be happy to oblige, I'll even send you some screenshots of the control panel if you'd like.

Well, I hope everyone enjoys the new format. I was really hoping that the layout of the homepage would be nice for those of you who are return visitors. All the new stuff right there on the front. Has anyone tried logging in and out? It's pretty cool (at least I think it is). If you're logged out you'll see all of the "Welcome" info. But when you're logged in that all goes away so you can get to what you're looking for. It does that on several of the pages.

Has anyone submitted a User Review yet? Hope you had a chance to read about the User Review drawing.

Anyways, feel free to posts any comments, good or bad. I created a new forum category for comments specifically about the site itself. I'll also be adding my reviews and modifying the site descriptions, as fast as I can. I'll also be doing a new site search as well, so hopefully I can expand the survey directories.

I appreciate the comments thus far. This has really become a nice little group.

I just went on the APLUS Website

Postby FreePaidSurveys » Fri Jun 17, 2005 1:15 pm

I just went to the APLUS website and checked out their plans. The one I have is the "Solo XR" it's under the UNIX plans. They've got a big list of what it includes.

Approved the first user review.

Postby FreePaidSurveys » Fri Jun 17, 2005 1:22 pm

fpsceo, I approved your user review this morning. You should be able to see it now. Just for future reference, I'd like the reviews to be a bit more elaborate. You don't need to write a novel or anything, but I also don't want a site full of one-liners that are of no use to anyone either. Thanks

Replying to Chris

Postby fpsceo » Fri Jun 17, 2005 11:37 pm

Thanks for the info on the hosting stuff, that doesn't sound too bad at all. I have been learning PHP/SQL myself, going to build a site to sell something (I hope). Trying to decide on a host, so that helped.

On my review, next time I will add more comments, glad you liked my review - that I did it anyway - I rated the numbers thing - didn't know the comments were as important. Was mine the first? (hope I win the prize)

I did the signup/signin thing, works ok.

One more thing

Postby fpsceo » Fri Jun 17, 2005 11:39 pm

On functionality, even though my review didn't show up under the "link" before you approved it, the "star rating" showed up on the listing.

FYI, I don't know if you wanted that or not.

Did anyone notice the $50 give away???

Postby FreePaidSurveys » Sat Jun 18, 2005 11:29 pm

Thought I'd have more people submitting User Reviews for the Give away. So far only one posted review.

I really am going to give someone $50 bucks and someone else $25.
Anyways, hope you guys'll post some reviews, I think it'll add a lot of interest to the site.

Postby shygirl » Mon Jun 20, 2005 4:17 pm

I tried posting a review for GoZing and at the page where you can edit or submit, I hit the submit and a page came up that said error. Nothing else, just error.

Which way did you go to get to the submit a review page

Postby FreePaidSurveys » Mon Jun 20, 2005 4:24 pm

Did you go to one of the directories, look up GoZing, go to the info page and click add a review? or did you go right to the add a review page and choose GoZing through the drop down list?
