Site Overview
20/20 Research was founded in 1986 in Nashville, TN. In 2000 they created an entire division devoted to online research - 20/20 Research Online. 20/20 Research usually offers an honorarium in return for participation in their research studies.

Below are the types of studies they tend to conduct.

  • Online Bulletin Board Discussions: Consists of about 15 other participants and a moderator. Allows you to login several times per day to participate in discussions.
  • Focus Groups: Round-table discussions with usually around 8-10 people.
  • Individual Interviews: Similar to a focus group, but invloves only yourself and a moderator.
It looks as if the focus groups and individual intrviews take place in either the Nashville, TN or Charlotte, NC areas.

This is one of those sites who only send you a few a year I think within a month of joining them I was invited to join a parents panel for a new concept in medications. They handled it very well and compensation for 5 days of logging in 10 mintues a day was 100. I have not seen anything from them since but am looking forward to hearing from them again.

20/20 offers wonderful compensation - and their payment always comes in for me. Over the last 6 months, I have gotten merely 2 referrals. However, one was for a $75 survey, and the second was for $100. The surveys (for me at least) have taken the form of online discussion forums with a moderator over 3-4 day period. I usually would spend 20-40 minutes/ day on the forum board. I guess I would need a larger sample size, but this average to about 1-3 hours for $75 - $100 dollars total ($25-$33/hour). One has to be careful to make sure that all the questions on the forum board are answered. The moderators sometimes add questions to previous sections of the board, so backtracking is important. The quality of the surveys have been good so far (one on home electronics and one on mobile phones for me). The only thing that keeps this site from being my favorite is the infrequent referrals.

20/20 research is a good survey company. They conduct online bulletin board discussions, where you have to log in twice a day for a period of 3 or 4 days and interact with a dozen other members and a moderator, discussing a specific subject matter, like smoking, or cell phones, etc. The discussions are fun and interesting, and it is rather easy to qualify for them, once you receive an invitation and fit a specific profile. Unfortunately, their survey invitations are infrequent, I receive them no more than once or twice a year, but they pay really well, usually $75 -- $100 for bulletin board discussion participation, within a few weeks after the survey closes.
